Newman Paper/US Recycling permit application to make their Wissinoming Site a Major Trash Transfer center, increasing the out of state trash processing from their current 100 tons a day to 2000 tons a day, . Tacony Civic is opposed to this permit application. The truck traffic alone along the area will increase to 600-900 trucks daily, carrying contaminated trash through out neighborhood. Mayfair Civic, Mayfair CDC, Northwood Civic, East Frankford Civic Upper and Lower Holmesburg Civics, Torresdale Civic are all OPPOSED.

Second Vice President
Tacony is getting Healthy. April 11th at 7pm Anne Marie will begin a Walking group/Jogging group starting at Disston Playground. Anyone interested, who does not like the idea of walking alone should attend.

Summer Concert series has been scheduled.

Membership
Membership has been growing and has continued to grow thanks to the efforts of Jim Taylor and other members of the Tacony Civic Association. There is information on our web site explaining the 2007 dues renewal process.

Treasurer
Linda Salandra reported that there is currently $4200 in the bank. The amount owed for the Disston Deed Legal Fund is currently at $16,800.

Quality of Life
The Civic was working on two properties in which problem tenants were wreaking havoc on the life of the surrounding residents. With the Help of CLIP and Joan Krajewski's office we were able to seal one of the properties and the other communication with the Landlord was all that was needed to have the tenants removed.

Cleaning requests for the 6500-6600 Vandike Street were entered and Camille had already requested that someone from the city come out which they did. CLIP sent SWEEP Officers to the block and several citations were issued and Street sweepers were sent and completed yesterday.

15th District PDAC is looking for volunteers to man a Curfew Center, short training, basically looking for people to help with CURFEW Violators. Email qualityoflife@tca.org for more information.

Clean and Green
Chris Woolslayer notified those attending of the Park Cleanup and Tree Planting on April 21st. She asked for volunteers to come and assist.
